This week I learned quite a great deal about not only media use, but how to use iMovie and upload videos from my phone. It is definitely not as easy as it seems. The one positive from this experience is that I believe I could do this much faster next time. I am happy that I challenged myself by doing this though. I have not made any videos like this in a long time. My hope is that if we need to create more of these, I am now better prepared to do these projects. I personally really enjoyed this unit and looking more into specifically copyright. I found the story of maintaining copyright for Mickey Mouse to be fascinating. The idea of one company having so much power that they end up changing copyright law for the entire country was quite astounding.
As far as the video goes, I decided to discuss the different aspects of fair use. I focused on effect, purpose, nature, and amount. I explain in my video what each of them are and I come up with examples to better explain them. I hope that this is helpful to people and it allows them to better understand the importance of fair use. I also hope that people who see this video will be able to use the examples to better contextualize these aspects of fair use.
